I remember Felix
Posted for: FELIX F SOTO:
Felix is the only Vietnam KIA from my boot camp platoon. Platoon number 181 Parris Island 9/65 to 11/65. Although, we weren't close I remember Felix. One day in boot camp about Felix stands out in my mind. We were at the hand to hand combat station and the instructor asked for a volunteer. Well, Felix volunteered. Not only was the instructor surprised, but so were we, his platoon members, when it became apparent that Felix had, had martial arts training. The instructor and Felix gave us a prolonged demonstration. Needless to say, Felix went up several notches in our esteem. He was somewhat of a celebrity from that time forward.

I remember Felix as a recruit and a Marine that was always ready to assist another recruit or Marine. He was a tough guy who never flaunted it. Quite the contrary.

Felix, Keep guarding the streets of heaven. If I ever get there, I'll look you up.

Your brother recruit and Marine,
Bob
