i was there, and heard his last words
Posted for: CHARLES LAVERN LUMM:
charlie, and i were both medic's with the 498th dust off. we were good friends. we were both stationed at lz uplift, and both went out on missions at the same time. i got back and droped off our patients, and i heard on the radio that the medic on the other ship was shot.
when charlies ship returned, we got him off the ship, and into the field hospital.
when a priest came in to give charlie the last rights, charlie looked at me, and said "don't let me die with my glasses on" so i took his glasses off, and he was gone.
i still to this day see everything that happened that night in september.
you will never be forgotten charlie. thank-you for being my friend.
