Posted for: CARLOS WILSON RUCKER:
Carlos "Buddy" Rucker and Wm. Coomes were personal friends; graduating from high school same year. (Go see Wm. Coomes also)

Rucker was on his 2nd attempt to rescue two ARVN wounded troops when his Huey was shot down. Buddy, a medic, was hit in the head; and, thrown from the chopper. The rest of the crew crashed with the ship and burned. They were hovering above triple canopy foilage.

Buddy's body was recovered a day later. Because he was thrown from the Huey, he was able to be visually recognized.

This was his 2nd tour and his 3rd PH ... which was fatal.

His life/committment to others is an inspiration. He was taught this by his grandmother, teachers and community. Buddy had his New Testament with him in Vietnam. He had received Jesus as a younster, and this also made him who he was...a fine medic and soldier who brought honor to the United States Army and his country.
