My Door Gunner

During a time when crews were assigned to one ship Apodaca was my door gunner. As the A/C I was supposed to fly that mission. Two replacements from Batalion (I think) came to get in their flight time. They gave me and my pilot the night off. I'll never forget when I heard the news that "my" ship was lost. I still remember the service we had for the crew. There is rarely a day that goes by that I don't think about Apodaca. We probably wouldn't have stayed in touch, so life goes. But, it would have been nice to know that he was out there somewhere, somewhere in the world.
