Boyhood Memories
Posted for: BRONSON LEE WESTFALL:
When I was 16, my family moved into the house next door to Bronson. We lived on the water in Tidewater Virginia. Bron taught me to fish, water ski and scuba dive. He also taught me that you can roll a volkswagon at 60 mph and live, laughing while crawling out the window. This was in 1963. Memories blur, but, I remember vividly the devil may care laughter and embracing of life that signified Bronson. A photo of us hangs on my wall with the fish that we speared during that golden summer of 1963. I made it to 'Nam with the Cav many years later. Bronson's spirit was representative of all the men I served with then, and, I would truly have loved to have served with him before. Your dad is dead now, Bron, cancer. Your mom lives alone, but, is tough and has a good spirit although I know she still hurts. I call her regularly. Love to you old buddy... Bob Flournoy
