THOUSANDS TO GATHER AT THE VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL FOR THE ANNUAL VETERANS DAY OBSERVANCE

Wednesday, Nov. 11, at 1:00 p.m.
 

 

What: Thousands of veterans, families and friends from around the country will come to Washington, D.C. for the annual Veterans Day Observance at The Wall, co-hosted by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund and the National Park Service.
   
Who: Featured speakers will include:
 
 
  • Mark H. Ayers, president of the Building and Construction Trades Department, AFL-CIO, and president, Veterans Labor Council;
  • James Wright, president emeritus, Dartmouth College;
  • Lt. Col. Sharon Stanley-Alden, USA, senior nurse case manager, Warrior Transition Battalion – Europe;
  • Peter M. Holt, CEO of Holt Companies and the San Antonio Spurs;
  • Walt Sides, president, Rolling Thunder;
  • John Piltzecker, superintendent, National Mall and Memorial Parks, National Park Service; and
  • Diane Carlson Evans, founder and president, Vietnam Women’s Memorial Foundation.
  • Jan C. Scruggs, founder and president of the Memorial Fund, will be the master of ceremonies.
  • The pledge of allegiance will be led by John Kamin from the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America.
   
Music:

Dr. Sam Bierstock and John Melnick will perform their tribute to veterans, “Before You Go.”
Bagpiper Chris Jackson will play “Amazing Grace.”

Where: The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Constitution Ave. and 21st St. NW, Washington, D.C.
